How to Enable Browser Geolocation

If you have disabled location services in your operating system settings, the browser will not be able to access your position. Follow the instructions below to re‑enable it.

  1. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services
  2. Turn on the Location Services switch
  3. Scroll down and tap Safari (or the browser you use)
  4. Select While Using the App or Ask Next Time

If Safari does not appear in the list, visit a site that requests location to make it show up.

Also check in the browser:

  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Website Settings → Location → Ask or Allow
  • Chrome on iOS: Chrome → Settings → Content Settings → Location → Allow

  1. Open Settings → Security & Privacy → Location
  2. Enable Use location
  3. Go to App permissions and find the browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  4. Select Allow only while in use or Ask every time

Also check in the browser:

  • Chrome: Menu → Settings → Site Settings → Location → On
  • Firefox: Menu → Settings → Site Permissions → Location → Ask every time

  • The location icon does not appear: make sure Location Services are enabled at the system level.
  • Location is inaccurate: turn on Wi‑Fi to improve accuracy even if you don’t connect.
  • Incognito mode: private browsing does not retain permission choices.
  • VPN active: the browser may detect the VPN server’s location instead of your real one.
  • Desktop: on Windows and macOS you also need to enable location from the system settings.
